Come and enjoy the best saltwater salmon fishing available anywhere in Southeast Alaska.  Sitka is adjacent to the Gulf of Alaska and is the main king salmon migratory route for Southeast Alaska, as well as for all of British Columbia and Washington.  If you are serious about catching king salmon, Sitka is the premier spot on the entire west coast and Captain Eddy is one of the most dedicated skippers.  In addition, we have excellent coho fishing starting in late June, with a six fish daily limit.

ADF&G statistics report that more king salmon are caught in Sitka each season than in all of the other cities in S.E. Alaska combined.  We are fishing huge schools of migratory king salmon that are actively feeding.  These fish are in their prime and the fight they put up proves it.  We mootch with herring and jig using light tackle so that the clients get a hands on experience; we do not use downriggers and we actively participate in catching and releasing fish until your arms give out.  If you want to kill the first fish that bites and then go do something else, we are not the charter operation for you.  When a fish is chosen for the cooler, it is treated like royalty.  We stun it, bleed it, clean it and ice it within minutes.  Back at the dock it is filleted, vacuum sealed, and quickly frozen.  We take great pride in the quality of our catch for your eating pleasure.

Scales ‘N Tales Charters is a single boat charter operation based in Sitka, Alaska.  It is owned and operated by Captain Eddy Sisom who has a passion for catching king salmon.  Lots of king salmon!  He caught his first king (36#) at Neah Bay when he was 12 years old, and has fished every summer since.  Even during a busy professional career  he made the time to fish each summer.  He started fishing in Sitka in 1991 and started his charter business in 1992.  Unlike other charter operations that came later and keep adding more and more boats each year, he does things differently.  Scales ‘N Tales only offers charters for a few weeks each season and only during the peak of the salmon migration.  This makes the charter business enjoyable.  Fishing when there are a lot of fish around and everyone is catching some makes for a fun-filled day.

Sitka offers both inside protected water fishing as well as ocean fishing.  He fishes a huge area with state of the art equipment and can always find some fish.  Over 90% of his clients re-book and there are usually only a couple of openings each season.  Though he only charters a few weeks, he fishes by himself and with friends most of April to Oct.  Eddy fishes because he likes to, not because it is a job.  Statements like "I only fish if I get paid" should have no place in the vocabulary of dedicated fisherman.  Likewise, only the best equipment should be used.  Scales 'N Tales Charters uses a 30ft custom-built Almar fishing machine, new in 2006, with state of the art electronics.  It is co-owned with Mike Chamberlain, owner of Ted’s Sports Center in Lynnwood, WA.  His business was recently named one of the top ten fishing tackle stores in the United States by Field & Stream magazine.  Working together, we currently provide our clients with G. Loomis graphite rods, Shimano Tekota reels and the very best in terminal gear.  Each and every outfit should be treated as if the next fished hooked could be a world record.
